The 911 Service Awards Program recognizes outstanding community service beyond the line of duty by one individual from Fire, Police, and EMS Services, chosen by peer nominations from across Windsor and Essex County. The nomination forms are distributed to all levels of County, City, Provincial and Federal, Police, Fire and Ambulance, O.P.P, RCMP, Campus Security, and CN and CPR Police. The focus of the award is two-fold: to recognize an individual for their outstanding service while on the job, and their efforts within the community as a volunteer. The last line of the Jaycee Creed, who were the originators of these awards reads ďService to Humanity is the Best Work of Life!Ē We at the Parade Corporation continue to believe in that line and wish to continue to carry it forward into this yearís award ceremonies. The Windsor Parade Corporation is a natural successor to this event owing to our close work with the services, during our special events.

Additionally we are very pleased to present the Senior Constable John Atkinson Memorial Award sponsored by OLG * which is open to all members of all services. This award was established as a means to continue to recognize the supreme sacrifice made by John in the line of Duty in May of 2006. Each service has the opportunity to nominate members who best exemplifies Johnís most enduring qualities as listed on the application with the assistance of Johnís wife Shelley. The nominees for all awards will be voted on by a non partisan committee. All winners and their corresponding awards will be listed in the Windsor Star prior to the event.

All of the participating services are invited to attend the 911 Community Services Award Banquet being held this year on Thursday November 10, 2011 at The Caboto Club. Tickets are $50 per person, or $450 per corporate table. The evening includes, dinner, complimentary wine, awards presentation, and entertainment featuring the Holy Names High School Jazz Band.

Tickets and Posters for this event will be distributed to all services in the upcoming weeks.

This Award is generously sponsored by OLG.
